Homemade chicken soup? Stock?

I'm currently attempting to make scratch chicken stock/soup.

Help me Rhonda. It smells good in here...even though it doesn't look do great ATM.



I'll let you know how it turned out.

For my own pathetic memory later, here's what I did.

1 package of split, bone in/skin on chicken breasts (2)
1 package of bone in/skin on chicken thighs (5)
2 carrots, pealed and chopped in half
2 celery stocks (leaf part too), chopped in half
1 onion, chopped in quarters
Handful of fresh snipped herbs: parsley, thyme, chives.
Salt/pepper

Cover with water and get it to a boil. Turn heat down and let simmer.

We'll see how she does in a few hours.

What I love at TJ's

Here are a couple favorite new things from Trader Joe's.

If you haven't tried it, dont be put off by the can. Its really good. I like to eat it over the TJ's version of Fritos chips. Yum!
Max likes the kidney beans.



These freeze dried bananas and strawberries are a favorite of Max's. Great for on the go treats.



These salts/spice grinders are sorta new to our family.
We really have enjoyed the lemon pepper.
Max and I used the Himalayan pink salt on our scrambled eggs this morning. Light flavor, very nice.

The other 3 we haven't used yet but I'm sure we won't be disappointed: South Africa smoke seasoning spices, smoked sea salt and sugar/chocolate/coffee. Can't wait to try them out!

Grossed out!

I'm (im)patiently waiting for our Bug Guy to show up.

We have a major ant invasion inside the house ATM. Hundreds! I can't wait for him to get here and get rid of them!

One thing he did tell me I could do in the meantime is to not worry about ant spray- just use Windex. It kills them on contact!

It really does work!! Awesome-sauce!

My 'commercial' rant

Ok sorry, but this is a quick rant. Sam and I always say this sort of jokingly, but it really seems true! Have you noticed that 99% of the commercials on TV are:

• Cell phone
• Insurance (auto/home etc)
• Personal Injury/Lawsuit

Maybe your area or channels are slightly different than mine, but it seems like those are the 3 types of commercials we see over and over and over again.

Does anyone else see this too?

Asian chicken salad

Boo-Boo

Max hurt his little wrist last night. We think it's a slight sprain. However, to be sure and rule out a fracture, he had to have x-rays taken.



He's having some post x-ray picture stress relief in the form of Smarties. He did great.

Edit: Final result- no fracture/break. Must have been a sprain. About 2hrs after this picture was taken he ripped off the wrapping and you'd not even know he'd been hurting. He was perfectly back to normal.

Huh.

Sicky baby

I think Max is coming down with a little cold. He's got a runny nose, doesn't want to sleep/stay asleep and he's fussy! Not my normal, happy little dude.

In the meantime, I'll leave you with a shot of this cutie enjoying his (new) little table.

I got the table/chair a few months back at Ikea. I finally got around to taking it outside and spray-painting it 'Heirloom White'.
